Bakersfield native Stephen Amstutz has dedicated his career to developing and implementing sustainable energy solutions for California’s San Joaquin Valley (SJV). Over the past two years Stephen has formed two Kern county based companies that are focused on the development of renewable energy projects and clean transportation infrastructure.
His first business in the SJV is San Joaquin Green Hydrogen (SJGH). SJGH specializes in project development for the production of “Green Hydrogen-” a process that uses renewable energy to convert water into clean hydrogen. His goal is to create a Kern-based ecosystem of green hydrogen generation that can be used for Zero Emissions transportation and also be deployed into existing heavy industrial applications like oil refining, Bio-fuels and power cogeneration.
Amstutz’s latest venture addresses the booming EV market that is being rapidly deployed. California Clean Transportation, specializes in helping businesses transition a portion of their operations and infrastructure over to zero emission technology. Stephen and his partners currently have renewable energy and zero emissions transportation projects under development throughout Kern County.
He is committed to help lead the charge for a whole new industry in the SJV; a charge full of new jobs and skilled labor surrounding clean transportation.
Bakersfield CA born Alan Alvarez has built a career around the experiences he’s had on the job as project and construction manager.
Over the past decade, Alan has managed teams of electricians, installers, carpenters and construction contractors on multimillion dollar projects ranging from building solar on top of carport structures in the famous “Mercado Latino” to building and selling homes/apartments from property investments he’s made over the years.
Together with an engineering and construction colleague, Alan formed a company called NiX Grid; a Kern County based solar firm who specializes in design, engineering, procurement and construction of commercial and multi-family solar. Nix Grid carries a general contractors license Class A, B & C-10. Over the past three years, Alan has managed over 5 MW of solar projects with Nix-Grid.
Alan is a certified Charge Point installer and is a GE certified energy efficiency coating installer.
In 2022 Alan began to establish a network of Kern County based electricians who are certified and trained in the construction of charging infrastructure.
Ollie Danner is an EV Industry pioneer having started his mission in 2013 to help consumers and businesses transition to alternative fuel forms of transportation. He caught the bug with the GM EV1 in late 90’s. And then began driving and hosting EV events in Bakersfield in 2013 and also helping form the San Joaquin Valley Electric Vehicle Partnership, where he now holds the chairperson position. He’s driven many EV models, including the Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt and more recently utilizes the Miocar Electric Car Sharing program.
Some of his projects include the Electric Car Pledge, which was a campaign to have consumers pledge to drive electric cars in the US and Canada. EVPerks.com was conceived in 2013, which rewarded consumers for driving electric vehicles.
He has organized over 20 EV Ride and Drive events in the San Joaquin Valley, many focused on consumer vehicles and commercial fleets.
In 2014 he began working with various EV Charging companies, including EVConnect, JuiceBox and ChargePoint to sell and install residential and commercial EV chargers. Projects included various CEC Corridor Grants to deploy EV infrastructure along the 99 and I-5. He was also instrumental in the infrastructure for electric schools for the Los Angeles Union School District.
He continues to help organize EV events in the SJV and focuses on the medium and heavy truck electrification industry, including ZeroRig.com, which assists fleet managers and operators select electric and hydrogen trucks on the market, find dealers around the US and search for EV Charging and Hydrogen Refueling stations. And ZEVLane.com, which allows truckers and fleets find electric truck charging stations.
Born on a farm just south of Arvin, to a third generation farming family. Mario moved to Bakersfield when he was six, and stayed there ever since. He left for three years to attend college in San Francisco . Farming was his family roots, and he came back to work the family farm when his dad got terminal cancer in his 50’s. He’s been a farm labor contractor for 21 years. Covering every type of job imaginable in the farming industry.
From planting carrots, to picking grapes, Mario’s company has workers around the clock irrigating and producing farm labor every day of the year. Mario’s been fascinated with all electric vehicles since they hit the mainstream market. An avid EV owner personally, he loves his Tesla of two years. After driving over 1,000 different cars being a valet 25 plus years ago, he clearly sees that gas or ICE vehicles are a very distant second to electric. He knows a wide range of all walks of life throughout Bakersfield.
From farmers, to gas station owners, to real estate moguls. His connections cover the broadest of circles. He also dreams of an all electric vehicle world. “To have pure clean air like they did hundreds of years ago is attainable in our near future.
